The S&P Dow Jones Indices 2017 Summer Internship Program is a three month full time position commencing in June/July 2017. Interns will be able to apply their skills to real-world investment challenges, gain experience in communicating their ideas in a professional environment and tackle problems of relevance to the broad-based community of anyone tracking, or benchmarked against, an index.
The program’s participants will work directly with the Index Investment Strategy team at S&P Dow Jones Indices and will have the opportunity to research various aspects of indexed investments; including quantitative investment strategies and derived indices measuring market phenomena such as volatility, dispersion or liqudity. Interns will also have the chance to present their work to senior management at the completion of the program, previous interns have acheived publication of their work in industry journals or had the chance to present their results to major financial institutions.
Interns will also be provided with the chance to meet with and network with other students participating in other programs in the wider S&P Global group, as well as gaining regular exposure to senior business leaders within the Indices unit.
- Would ideally suit quantitatively talented individuals who want to develop their experience in roles that balance pure research activities with client and market-facing communication.
- We are looking for individuals with strong problem solving skills. Curiosity, above all else, is required.
- A passing familiarity with indices, ETFs, passive and active investing (and "smart" beta) will be an advantage.
- Preference will be shown towards candidates who can demonstrate both mathematical competence and the ability to communicate mathematical concepts to the lay audience.
