Things to Delete from your CV 2
However, there are some things that don't advance your case much. These cluster around "making the monster machine behave". The "monster" may be a supercomputing cluster, esoteric measuring equipment or a giant laser on the moon. It's useful to say you've done this, but we do get a % of CVs where it is easy to get the impression that you've spent the last couple of years basically being a high end mechanic.
There are three bad effects.
First, it wastes space that you could use talking about useful things.
Second, it makes people think that you are "good at mending things", but no at creative or analytical work.
Lastly, in the sifting of CVs it may mean that you are sent for purely IT jobs.
So the optimum is to mention some practical work, most employers like that, but not to go on about it all that much.
